Statement on treatment of duplicate submission in Journal of Medical Biomechanics

To maintain the reputation of Journal of Medical Biomechanics and benefit of all readers, we make special statement on treatment of duplicate submission in JMB:

(1) There might exist some differences in literal expression and discussion description of the manuscript concerned in the statement, but the main data and graphs/tables are identical. However, minutes of important meetings, diagnostic criterion and prevention guidelines of diseases, document of common view by related organization, news report, published abstract or preliminary report in one journal but whole text in another journal are excluded. If the author of the above-mentioned manuscripts intends to duplicate the manuscript, they must make statement to the editorial office.

(2) If one manuscript is published in certain journal in full text, it can not be submitted to the other journals.

(3) The author should indicate no duplicate submission in the recommendation letter.

(4) If authors wish to submit the manuscript to other journals after 3 months upon receiving the manuscript receipt but without any notification on manuscript processing which could be still under review, they are obliged to contact the editorial office in advance.

(5) If the manuscript is confirmed as duplicate submission, the editorial office should carefully collect and verify the data before notifying the author, and allow the author to make explanation before making the decision. If dispute arises between the author and the editorial office, supervising department at a higher level and authority institutions can be resorted for final arbitration.

(6) Once the duplicate submission is revealed, the manuscript will be rejected immediately. Once the duplicate publication is revealed, JMB will make a statement on such work, notify the authors’ affiliation and other technical journals in the field, and refuse the contribution of the authors as the identity of first author within two years.
