    Abstract:

The application of mechanics in clinical wound healing has a long history, yet the systematic underlying mechanism remains elusive. With recent advances in biomechanics and mechanobiology, the principle on how mechanical factors affect the formation, progression and healing of wounds have been gradually unveiled. Herein, on the basis of pioneering advances in theories, technologies, and clinical practices in the crosstalk between mechanics and wound healing, we propose the concept of “wound repairing mechanomedicine”, from the perspectives of biomechanics, mechanobiology and mechanotherapy. State-of-the-art progresses have been systematically reviewed with in-depth discussions, according to which insightful outlooks are also provided to better translate sciences and technologies in wound repairing mechanomedicine towards clinical applications.
