    Abstract:

Objective To test the validity of the TC4 self-taping bone screw’s mechanical equation and analyze the impact resulted from its parameters. Methods In order to derive the equation of self-taping and pull-out, built the bone screw-polyurethane foam block physical model. Referencing ASTMF543-07 standard specification and test methods for metallic medical bone screw, Do the mechanical verification tests of HAZ and HBZ with Instron E3000 and analyze the data of self-taping force、self-taping torque and pull-out force. Results the calculated and measured values are basically the same, except for few points with large individual errors. And the average error of the two is 12.37%, so the theoretical calculation formula is highly credible. Besides, the larger the bone screw’s diameter or the higher the bone screw’s tooth height, the greater the forces of the self-taping and the pull-out required. The research results have provided a calculation basis for the mechanical properties of the bone screw and a research direction for the optimization and improvement of the bone screw.
