    Abstract:

Purpose The purpose of this study was to explore the differences of the patellofemoral joint stress of lower limbers between linear and curve running. In order to provide recommendations for runners. Methods Using a portable speed measuring system (Newtest, Powertimer, Finland) test the running speed (4±0.2m/s).A three-dimensional motion analysis system (Motion Analysis Raptor-4, USA, 200Hz) and two force plates (Kistler,9281 CA,Switzerland,1000 Hz) was conducted to compare the kinematics and kinetics of lower extremity during the stance phases of linear and curve run (radius: 36m) of thirteen male participants. Results Patellofemoral joint stress、patellofemoral joint force and patellofemoral joint contact area of outside lower were found to increase significantly during curve running. Conclusion Patellofemoral joint stress of outside lower was significantly increased during curve running. The increased patellofemoral joint stress was driven by an increase in joint reaction force. There were no significant difference in knee flexion angles and knee extensor moments when patellofemoral joint stress increased during curve running, It’s suggest that the mechanisms were difference in patellofemoral joint force between curve running and liner running. The results indicate that long distance curve running is a contributing factor with respect to the development of patellofemoral pain and increasing patellofemoral pain. Our findings advice individuals with patellofemoral pain and runners avoid long distance curve running.
